Privacy policy
Monitor Pickers is a no-account, no-login product-comparison site. We don't ask for your name, email, address, or payment info to use it. The trade-off is that a handful of third-party services load on every page to make the site work, measure whether it's useful, and pay for hosting. This page tells you exactly which ones, what they see, and how to opt out.
What we collect ourselves
Nothing tied to your identity. The site has no user database, no email list, no account system. Your quiz answers live in the URL query string of your own browser — we don't store them on the server.
What third parties collect on our pages
- PostHog (product analytics) — records anonymous page views, button clicks, and quiz steps so we can see which features people use. Sets a first-party cookie to recognize return visits. We never join this data with anything that identifies you personally. PostHog's policy.
- Sentry(error tracking) — captures JavaScript errors so we can fix bugs. Includes your browser version, operating system, and the URL of the broken page. Doesn't include keystrokes, form data, or anything else you typed. Sentry's policy.
- Skimlinks(affiliate-link rewriter) — when you click a "Buy at [retailer]" link, Skimlinks adds an affiliate parameter to the URL so the retailer can attribute the sale and pay us a small commission. Skimlinks sees the click but not what you do on the retailer's site. Skimlinks' policy. See our affiliate disclosure for the financial relationship.
- Vercel(hosting) — sees every HTTP request (your IP, browser, requested URL) because we're running on their servers. They retain access logs briefly for security and billing. We don't add anything on top. Vercel's policy.
What we DON'T do
- No advertising trackers (no Google Ads pixel, no Facebook Pixel, no programmatic ad networks).
- No email collection — we don't have a newsletter.
- No selling of data to third parties. Period.
- No fingerprinting beyond what your browser already sends to any site.
If you submit feedback
The feedback and contact forms route through Google Forms, which stores responses on Google's servers. If you include your email or other identifying info there, we'll have it. We use it only to reply to you, and we don't add it to any list. Don't want that? Skip the form and email contact@monitorpickers.com directly.
Opting out
The cleanest opt-out is a browser-level tracking blocker (uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, Brave's built-in shields, Safari's Intelligent Tracking Prevention) — they handle PostHog, Sentry, and Skimlinks uniformly. Most of the site works fine without them. The only thing you lose is our ability to earn commission on your purchases, which means we can't pay for hosting forever, but that's our problem, not yours.
Children
Monitor Pickers isn't directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has submitted info through one of our forms, contact usand we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we add new trackers, change vendors, or start collecting anything we don't today, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and edit this page accordingly. We don't maintain a separate change-log because this site doesn't (yet) have users with accounts to notify.
Contact
Privacy questions, data requests, or general grievances: contact@monitorpickers.com or the contact page.
